About

Hello friends!  First, I’d like to thank you for “stopping by” to check out the beginning stages of my blog.  So…as many of you know I have started this blog as a creative outlet based on style.  My initial vision for this blog was to incorporate “looks” out of my own closet that compare with those we often see in the fashion magazines.  As I move forward with this, my plan is to get local boutiques/chain shops/department stores involved.  And since the objective of my blog is STYLE, hopefully I can team up with a few certain people to blog about their creativity with interior style.  And of course, we can’t leave out those we turn to for skin care and beauty!  (I will also be snapping shots of people (with their permission of course) who look really put together or wearing something that ties into a topic I’m blogging about–so you never know, you might wind up on here!)

For those of you who do not know me let me give you a little background information…

I have been married to my very best friend, Ty, for over 6 years.  In all honesty, his encouragement and faith in me is partly why you are even reading this.  I co-manage at Warren’s in Central Mall. (If you do not shop there you are missing out!)  Over the last 9 years (wow, time flies!) while working there I have found a deep love for fashion, but even more so,  is the love for the relationships I’ve built and will continue to build.  I often joke and call myself a “retail therapist,” but I enjoy every moment!  So many people have added a sense of fulfillment to my every day routine at work.  I have been asked to help people re-vamp or update their wardrobe, or even just something as simple as helping them piece together one outfit.  After being approached by so many people and given the push by my closest friends and family to start personal shopping/styling as a side business, I FINALLY decided to just do it!  Honestly, what I enjoy most is helping someone else feel good about themselves through one tiny, tiny aspect…the clothes that they wear.  There is SO much out there and so little time with all the other life activities that shopping becomes overwhelming and intimidating for many people.  Plus, with all the surfeit of beautiful, tall, skinny women all over our televisions, movie screens and magazines it is easy to start doubting yourself.   Being a woman myself, as well as working in a store that caters to women, I have learned that we all have it in our heads that we are severely flawed.  We just want to feel good about ourselves and have confidence.  I firmly believe that the way we feel about ourselves strongly determines the way we interact with the rest of the world.  And let’s face it…clothing has a language all its own.  It’s like a shorthand to help read and contextualize people.  I once read, “choose what you put on your back carefully, because your clothes will keep right on talking about you behind you back!” I love it!  And I am here to help make sure that the statement your clothes make about you is a positive one!

I am looking forward to growing this blog and allowing it to be a creative outlet to share with you.  I plan to blog about the experiences with my clients (of course with their consent).  I will also be posting great local finds and give you some fresh ideas to try when dressing your body.  We all have different shapes, sizes,  tastes and opinions so I will do my best to cover us all!  Please stop by often and see what’s new (I promise to do my best at updating posts frequently!).  In time, I have great ideas for this blog.  My main goal is to keep it fun and interesting.  I have to keep telling myself…Rome was not built in a day!!  Also, my friend KAT HARDIN (you will often see her amazing photography on my blog) told me to “think big”–I keep hearing that over and over in my head. Oh, the many ideas I have, if only there were more time in a day…  XOXO,  Meagan         (p.s. If you ever have any questions/comments  feel free to email me.  allthingssoleful@yahoo.com)

I am so proud of you Meagan! From the first moment I saw you I knew there was something special – some inherently unique about you. I’ve watched you be different in so many ways that you don’t even consider important. Seldom do we find a person so beautiful yet so completely good and sweet. A person who doesn’t mind connecting to other people no matter their age, social standing or style. A girl marrying young and growing more in love with her partner through the years. Meagan these things set you apart and speak to your character. Not only would I trust you with my wardrobe choices – I would trust you with my life. I look forward to following your blog and learning a much needed lesson about style and fashion. Dream BIG and put some soaring wings to those dreams. Inspire us and educate us. And when you need someone to try out your skill on the “heftier” set, you know where to find me. Much love from your “old” friend.

Meagan! Congrats on getting your blog up and running. I’m definitely following you. This is sooooo fantastic! I do have a quick question, have you seen the long tees anywhere? I haven’t been able to find ANY!!!!! Anyway, congrats again! And good luck!

    • allthingssoleful November 3, 2010 at 12:22 am #

Thank you Sarah!!! I’m so glad you are going to follow!!! Please pass it along to your friends. I really, really appreciate you! Ok, now on to the long tees. Upstairs in Dillards I saw some but it’s been probably 2 weeks. Also, another place to try would be Target–they had some in the Mossimo (i think that was the one) line. And, you never know, Old Navy may have some — they have good basics. I recently got several from H&M but unfortunately you can’t order online. (we had a wedding in St. Louis to attend so of course I found some time to do a little shopping!) And, I can always find something at Express, so you might check there as well. Are you in Fort Smith, though, or Fayetteville? I know you work with my friend, Amber. Ok, honey, hope this helps! xoxo

Hey girl – this is wonderful! I love the writing and the photos. I can’t imagine anyone better suited for doing this, and I hope that the blog opens big doors for you. You are so precious, and I am blessed to be able to count you among my friends.

Christi, I am so glad that we got to work (for a short amount of time) together. And the oddest thing of all is that all along you lived across the street! It was just meant to be! lol!! Thank you so much for the compliment and for supporting/follwing me! You have so much to offer, girl! You should walk over to my porch sometime and chit chat. I’ll serve you a glass of wine after a long day’s work! xoxo, Meg

    Another friend weighing in:

Sydney wrote: “I really love the fashion show. I have a faux fur vest. I have worn it ONE time with not much flair. My step daughter and my daughter in law both wore it and looked really cute.”

    • allthingssoleful November 10, 2010 at 3:37 pm #

Hope this blog post post gives Sydney some inspiration on how to wear her vest with more “flair!” Lavetta, please tell her thank you. I will soon take the time to learn how to post your blog to mine!! 🙂

i’m proud of you and your aggressive nature, however i’d love you and be proud of you if you wore snuggies and drank coffee from a truck stop. Keep it going tiger i’m truly blessed to have two wonderful daughters but all the credit goes to their mom. love ya even if you don’t like my two tone shoes…………….

    • allthingssoleful December 2, 2010 at 7:55 am #

Thanks daddy! LOL!! Well, the coffee from a truck stop only happens when we are driving in the middle of the night to Florida–other than that, it’s gotta be Starbucks! There REALLY is a difference!! 🙂 I am blessed to have YOU!!!

    All things soleful

After working retail for twelve years I decided to trade my trendy fun clothes in for a pair of practical uniform scrubs working as a surgical assistant. Every day, tennis shoes and ponytail (not much style in that). Now weekends have taken on a similar look, baggie workout pants and my old Nikes.
I was on facebook and I happened upon your new picks for your blog. I clicked on your web page and I was so excited. Your style is amazing and you have so many great outfit ideas. Though I love my job, I can tell you I miss the hunt for the new cute outfits and how great my hair can look with a few waves. You have given me a new found excitement for fashion . I look forward to getting updates on your blog and I am so glad you’re out there finding that great new style that I know will look great on me too.

Tanya- Thank you so much for the kind words!! I am so glad you found me. Through the holidays I just had to put my blog on the backburner and I have to say I really missed it! I really enjoy it. It’s a fun, creative outlet for me and I’m thrilled that people, like yourself, are enjoying it as well! Happy New Year!! xoxo
